This book presents not only the major themes of discrete mathematics, but also the reasoning that underlies mathematical thought. Students develop the ability to think abstractly as they study the ideas of logic and proof. While learning about such concepts as logic circuits and computer addition, algorithm analysis, recursive thinking, computability, automata, cryptography, and combinatorics, students discover that the ideas of discrete mathematics underlie and are essential to the science and matehmatics of the computer age.

Overall, Epp’s emphasis on reasoning provides students with a fdition foundation for computer science and upper-level mathematics courses. Media content referenced within the product description or the product text may not be available in the ebook version.

This book perfectly illustrates what is wrong with the textbook industry. I’m amazed by other reviewers who say this book is clear or easy to understand. Most concepts in this book are presented in near gibberish when in many cases simple explanations would do and can be found in other books and other resources.

Discrete Mathematics with Applications , Susanna S. Epp –

The print is light and some text to a point is not really dark enough to read clearly. Buy the us edition if you are not sensitive to price. This applkcations was just about perfect for me. It is written in a clear manner. It includes a applicarions of examples, exercises and knowledge checks.

It covers topics thoroughly and rigorously. I really enjoyed my discrete math class thanks to this textbook. It’s definitely something I plan to keep around for my future algorithms classes. For a book that costs dollars new I expect there to be no errors and really good student help. This book had mediocre student help, with very few problems solved in the back as a method of help. If I am going to buy a book which costs more than 2 Monitors, it better be mathematically checked and spell checked.

There were so many math errors in the book that the previous renter of my book, a math professor, had taken the time to find them all for himself, and boy did he find a LOT!

I’m very disappointed with this book, and want a refund.

I really like this book. The only math book that I can say that for. Easy to follow, especially if you have seen discrete math before. Like all math books applicatinos, there are some parts they go way too fast through or don’t explain well, but this is better than most IMO.

If applictaions need this book for class look for an international edition copy. Despite what all the websites say the content is exactly the same. The only difference between the books is the cover is different and the text in the international edition is printed in black and white.
