However, there’s a Tempter Demon called Nathaniel who sets michelke sights on her, and he’s determined to tempt her into Hell. I can’t go into too much detail because it would give something vital away. Everything that happens in this book happens for a reason. Michelle’s constructed a wonderful, fun plot filled with very cool characters that keep you reading page after page to see where the adventure leads to next. Val’s a likeable heroine.
All she wants is to get back home. Then there’s her recently-turned-into-a-rat friend. He’s funny and a little perverted, michlle always has something witty to say!
And Lloyd, ah, definitely can’t say anything about him but he’s awesome. You’ll all get a kick out of this guy! And of course, Nathaniel There’s also the wicked and snotty Julian There are a lot of other very interesting and hilarious characters to meet, but if I get started on them, this blog entry will go on for rowrn looooooong while. Anyway, Valerie’s life gets even more interesting when she has to venture into the Underworld to retrieve the Key to Heaven. The imagery here is wonderful, starting with a sign that says: Welcome to the Underworld.

Dec 18, Lynda Tatad rated it liked it. I enjoyed her take on the Fallen Angels theme which seems to be so popular now in the YA genre. After being given an oversized T-shirt, a wallet is found with some money and her “birth ceritificate” with the address of a nearby motel.
She had been warned about Tempter Demons, whose sole job is to seduce Fallen Angels and bring them down into Lucifer’s Realm. She gets hired by the manager of the Paradise Inn to be a maid and get free room and board out of it.
She’s looking to try and find a way back to heaven, since it was a mistake she got kicked out! She works on doing good deeds, and one of them nearly gets her killed. This is when she finally meets the Demon assigned to Tempt her, Nathaniel.
She also makes friends with Reggie, who has a problem with his girlfriend who turns him into a rodent from a jealous rage. It turns out she has one hope to get back to where she belongs, to find the Mystical Key to Heaven Valerie was a little annoying in the beginning, but I loved it when she met the 9 year old psychic, and things got interesting from there!
It’s a fun, humorous, chick-lit paranormal romance that has some fun characters that keep things flowing! Mar 06, Melisande rated it did not like it Shelves: I loved this author. The concept of this book sounded great. I just can not keep my attention on it. My dogs spilled Chinese food on it and I have not picked it up since.
I do not really wonder what happens in it. It was kind of predictable. I do not need to read it. So sad since I love her other series so much. Jan 14, Jennifer rated it it was amazing Shelves: Michelle Rowen’s reads are always addictive and fabulous.
Finished this book basically in one night and it actually had a different ending than I expected. The heroine is stunned to suddenly find herself kicked out of heaven. There must be some mistake. She doesn’t deserve to live as a human, she didn’t do anything wrong! Lost, naked and a bit hopeless, she stumbles upon a motel run by an older gentlemen who takes her in and employs her as a maid.
A few months go by which no development on how to return to heaven. She keeps regular journals to remember things about being an angel because it seems her mind is slipping, becoming mortal and fragile.
L The heroine is stunned to suddenly find herself kicked out of heaven. Life as a human sucks.

Not only is she forced to make bed and clean toilets but she’s also sick as a dog the night she’s attacked in an alleyway and saved by her worst nightmare.
Worse-a tempter demon whose job is to lure fallen angels to hell. No, she refuses to accept his offers no matter how sucky life is and no matter how hansom her demon may be. Then, one night she stumbles upon her employer and his very own tempter demon in a situation which a fallen angel and demon should no be in. And to make things far more complicated, the key to heaven, the gift from the demon to her elderly lover is stolen by a bad guy, leaving the heroine stranded once again and her friend very ill.
She vows to see the key returned so they can use it to return to heaven but to do this Going to a witch and summoning a demon winds up only bringing the hero back to her after a few days of pleasant absence. The hero, the man she imagined when wishing for a demon is now completely under her spell and she uses her powers over him to make him take her to the beyond.
The world between earth and hell, where the demons live and where her enemy has taken her key to freedom. With her demon and friends turned rat in toe, they travel to a place masked by glamour to look pleasing but it honesty is a desolate and harsh place.
Meeting demons some better than others, the heroine is forced to accept the fact that she herself was deserving of her fate in being cast from heaven.
Her sin was pride and she has that and more. The hero points out to her that she is quite self centered. That this whole mission to retrieve the key and save the world all started for selfish reasons. She wanted the key for herself.
She can see that. She can also see that thinks have changed. Not only is she thinking of others above herself even in dangerous situations but she’s also seeing the hero clearly for the first time. Never did she consider that a demon could be as chained as well. That the hero wasn’t tempting innocent demons because he wanted to but rather because he had to. Turns out the hero isn’t a very good demon. He wasn’t even supposed to be a demon, his abusive father was and now he’s stuck in a job which fills his with guilt and torment all the days of his life.
People around them comment on his next failure being his last but that the looks he’s apparently giving her speak of a man in love.
