Tebo has a true gift for being friends with characters who are spirited, funny, and life-like! I’m super excited for Colin and Cynthia too D Burndee started to learn how to control his temper better in this book which is probably a good thing for him. Yeah, I’d wmbia read The Goose Girl after this one, at least since you’re in the middle already. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.
Just like watching a play or being right there with the character! I knew nothing about the Goose Girl fairytale before reading this, so I can’t speak for that, but I enjoyed all the new characters! The operative word here is ‘uneasy. View all reftesh comments. As for the rest of the cast and plot line, I was amazed. We first met Burndee in Book 1, The Reluctant Godfather –and let me tell you, that title says it all.

It’s a wonderful fairytale retelling that turns the original tale on its head in a new and different rendition of the classic story. My sister and I read bits of this out loud to each other and just cackled over it.
I would have gladly read more of the dynamics between Burndee and Colin. The themes represented in this book are wonderful and profound, which takes great skill in such a lighthearted book. I’ll be cryptic to avoid major spoilers, but I can’t ambja this wonderful book without mentioning her. View all 3 comments. This one is no exception. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. I have found here more witty dialogues and the scenes ajbia more captivating than in refrsh Reluctant Godfather”, but in “A Royal Masquerade” there was not so strong, clear and wise ambix like in “The Reluctant Godfather”.
Author Allison Tebo has such skill in writing fairytale retellings that are not only hilarious and unique but also deep, insightful, sweet, and even–at times–heart-wrenching.
A madcap and magical novella of The Goose Girl from a unique perspective.
